In Memorial - James A Anderson (Author)

James A Anderson - The Great & The Good

A

In recent years, I have come to know a great many writers; almost all of them independent, hard working, committed authors who work hard to hone their skills and build a solid reader base.

Along with those, I have also met a significant number of people who have gone out of their way to support and mentor those of us who needed everything from a little direction to a lot of critique.

James Anderson fell solidly into both camps, and it was with immense sadness that my fellow authors and I learned of his passing this week.

James was born in Glasgow in 1948, but emigrated to Canada with his family in 1957.

A B.A. (Hons) History graduate, he retired in 2005 after 35 years as a journalist in daily and weekly newspapers.

As a fan of thrillers and mystery novels, James' first book, DEADLINE, was published in 2010. The sequel, THE SCORPION, followed in 2012.

To me, James was - first and foremost - a talented writer with a genuine ability to help any who needed guidance... and that included a few who didn't even realise they needed the help.

Although we never met, I considered him very prominent amongst the 'friends' I had made in my online communities; one who could always be relied upon to keep you on the right path toward your goals. If there was one thing he did well, it was common sense.

The term 'sadly missed' is often applied to those we lose in our lives, but in this case I am certain his friends and family will miss him terribly. The hole he has left in the lives of myself and my fellow writers is huge, but in comparison to the void he will leave in the lives of those who knew and loved him in the real world, our loss is surely only a fraction of theirs.

James A Anderson was the epitome of The Great And The Good. I invite you to raise a glass in his memory.
